Located North of Auckland...

....in beautiful Mangawhai, the pioneering Swedish Vallhund Valkrista kennels has been owned and operated by Rose and Hans Madsen.  For almost a decade and a half Valkrista has been  importing dogs with outstanding temperament and type,  breeding Swedish Vallhunds of distinction and providing puppies of this fabulous breed for families right across New Zealand.

All of the Swedish Vallhund kennels in New Zealand that are breeding today, have aquired their initial bitches from Valkrista, and Rose has maintained good working relationships with these newly established  kennels.  She has cheerfully passed on everything she has learned, making available her blood lines, offering her stud dogs for service and encouraging the newcomers.  Further Rose has supported the collective overseas drive to maintain genetic diversity by exporting several Swedish Vallhunds to such places as Japan, and America.

It was is her goal and dream that Swedish Vallhunds should be firmly established in New Zealand, and now in 2009 she is delighted to know that they are indeed here to stay.  With Vanaheim, Vallarity, Barahwolfe, Torval and Thurston forging ahead, Valkrista continues their winning way knowing that the future is bright and the Valkrista legacy assured.

Rose and Hans are proud of the champions they have bred.  Congratulations to the owners that have campaigned the dogs that have left Valkrista.  You too are a part of the Valkrista  story.  Valkrista thanks you and acknowledges the trust and commitment you placed in your beloved dogs.
